CNG CHARACTERISTICS

THE GROWING GLOBAL ENERGY NEEDS (ESPECIALLY FROM INDIA, CHINA, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST AND SOUTHEAST ASIA) CONTRASTS WITH THE GLOBAL TREND TOWARDS A MORE EFFICIENT ENERGY SYSTEM AND LESS CO2 EMISSIONS.

THEREFORE, IT IS EXPECTED THE IMPULSE TO LOW-EMISSION FUELS AND TECHNOLOGIES IN MANY COUNTRIES, RAISING THE PROPORTION OF NATURAL GAS SOURCES, WHICH IS THE FOSSIL FUEL WITH THE LOWEST CO2 EMISSIONS.

CNG is an economical fuel

Compressed Natural Gas is one of the most economical alternative fuels in the market. Compared with gasoline, CNG cost is substantially lower, considering a 100 km trip. This results in a significant saving for the user

This clean fuel not only allows you to save on fuel cost, but also improves performance and the useful life of the vehicle. Due to the insignificant weight of this fuel and its combustion way, it keeps the oil, the state of the spark plugs and the tuning of the engine in good conditions.

World natural gas reserves of are very important and its estimated size continues to increasing, as new techniques for exploration, operation and extraction are developed.

TRENDS OF NATURAL GAS STOCK AND PRODUCTION IN THE WORLD 1980 - 2014

Every vehicle that works with gasoline, produced in our country or imported, whether it has a carburetor or an electronic fuel injection system, can be converted to CNG.

High-conversion engines that work with CNG will subsequently reduce gas emissions, responsible for the well-known greenhouse effect, by up to 40%. European terminals (such as VOLVO, MERCEDES BENZ, ROVER, BMW, IVECO, FIAT, PEUGEOT, RENAULT); American terminals (such as FORD, CHRYSLER, MAN, CUMMINS, MACK, CHEVROLET, CATERPILLAR) and asians ones (like HONDA, TOYOTA, NISSAN, MITSUBISHI, ISUZU, DAEWOO, DAIHATSU), are starting to manufacture their vehicles with high conversion engines.

CNG is a safe fuel

CNG is inherently safe, As every part of the conversion kits are homologated by strict safety standards, and it is verified the compliance with the strict regulations that control the construction and operation of the dispensing stations.

The security of Natural Gas is mainly caused by the intrinsic characteristics of this fuel, such as: CNG is lighter than air. In case of an escape, it rises and dissipates, preventing the formation of flammable spills. This characteristic is different from liquid fuels, whose gases are heavier than air and, as consequence, their dispersion is more difficult. Las proporciones de gas que se requieren en el aire para formar una mezcla explosiva, son mayores a las de otros combustibles.

Natural Gas offers chemical and physical characteristics that allow its use in transport with much

lower emissions than any other known fuel on the world market.

Natural gas chemical properties and the access to high-performance technologies provide a positive and worry-free energy option for a way to sustainable development.

CNG is an eco-friendly fuel

All vehicles consume gasoline and diesel in extraordinarily high quantities, resulting in a great air pollution. This is not the case for those which use CNG, because it virtually eliminates CO2 emissions, produces half of NO2 emissions and reduces toxic Carbon Monoxide by 80%, improving air quality, reducing acid rain and, therefore, the global warming risk.

Argentina has been one of the pionners of CNG technologies. Nowadays, it is ranked as the leader in number of light-vehicle conversions. Since CNG application started in our country, more than 1 million vehicles have been adapted to this fuel. In this market, the automotive industry and national government authorities are actively working to promote the use of CNG in passenger public and cargo transport, as well as the production of light-vehicles alternative to oil products continue growing due to their low polluted emissions.

Because of its chemical composition, CNG does not contaminate the air with soot or micro particles, as diesel does. It also reduces pollution referring to carbon monoxides, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrous oxide, sulfur oxide and other combustion gases, resulting in a clean and pure air.

Why is it called

"clean fuel"?

Natural Gas chemical composition is the reason for its widespread acceptance as the cleanest among all the fossil fuels.

The fact that it is a gas helps its mixing with air and its subsequent combustion is easier and offers greater flexibility than other fossil fuels.

The main products of fossil fuel combustion are CO2 and water vapor.

Fossil fuels combustion is the cause of 75-90% of all CO2 emissions produced by human activity.

Due to a larger hydrogen/carbon ratio in the natural gas composition, compared with other fossil fuels, its combustion produces considerably less CO2 per unit of generated energy. Based on this, natural gas combustion produces, at least, 25-30% less CO2 than oil and, at least, 40-50% less than that coal per unit of generated energy, depending on the used process and the quality of the fuel.

For example: the following table shows the pollutants generated by different sources and the allowable levels according the World Health Organization.
